Melissa Brown earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English Education from Florida State University in 2009, and since then has earned professional certifications in Secondary English and Secondary Social Studies as well as endorsements to work with ESOL and Gifted students. Melissa started her teaching career in Miami, Florida where she taught Geography and Civics at the middle school level. It was here that she was recognized as “Rookie Teacher of the Year” by the Miami-Dade Council for the Social Studies in 2011. In addition to classroom instruction Melissa has served in leadership roles such as Grade Level Chairperson and Literacy Committee board member, as well as sponsored many clubs like FEA and Student Council. One of her fondest classroom memories is the annual, out-of-state field trip to Washington, D.C. that she organized and chaperoned for her middle school students. Melissa Zamonis strongly believes that every learner can be successful, and hopes to instill the value of lifelong learning in her students. She currently lives in Orlando, Florida.
